Menswear is having its day and you can benefit from stylish socially conscious selections. Here are 3 brands that I like.
1. We Three Leaves
This Brooklyn-based curator of menswear offers a wide selection of tops, bottoms, shoes and accessories. Read all about the various certifications that they are familiar with on their website. They also give you good information on the sustainability practices of each item you are considering.
What I Love: these tweed, wool pants. They have a gorgeous fall to them, and add richness and texture against leathers and knits.
Pro-surfer Kelly Slater saw an opportunity for sustainable menswear and brought his outdoorsy lifestyle with him to create stylish surfer-chic pieces along with classic items for every man. No hang-ten t-shirts here, this line is relaxed, but mature.
What I love: this coat. Beautifully cut with classic lines, and made from regenerated wool. It is $645, it will last a lifetime, and you'll look like a million bucks. And because you didn't get it from any run-of-the-mill store, you'll have added a worldly piece to your collection. When people ask, you also have a cool story to tell.
3. Marine Layer
This San Francisco-based brand carries a lot of super-comfy loungewear and pieces that make you go "ahhhh", without compromising on quality and style. Fabrics are made from recycled materials and produced in California which reduces their carbon impact.
What I love: this sweater. Versatile and comfortable, with a dress up feel. It comes in a few colours and fabrics.
Sustainable Menswear is growing and I'm really excited about it.
