Timeless Investments in Your Closet
Fall is a beautiful time for your wardrobe.
It feels delicious to bring out your substantial, textured pieces after baring your bits in sheer cotton for several months.
If you're planning on buying pieces for Autumn weather, keep it simple, and invest in pieces that are always in style.
Avoid the trendy $20 purchase, and save your money for investment pieces.
Here are my 7 fall wardrobe must haves:
1. A Beautiful Trenchcoat
If you don't have one, you simply must save for one. I don't know anyone who doesn't look sublime in one. They make everyone look incredibly chic.

A pair of well-made, well-heeled, boots. Buy quality to last, and have your favourite cobbler give them some TLC annually. Whether you prefer ankle boots, booties, knee high boots or over-the-knee boots, or like to experiment with them all, make sure that at least one of them is built to last the tides and impressive in quality.
Really, any pair of boots by La Canadienne is timeless.
3. A Statement White Shirt
Not to be confused with a basic white shirt, a statement white shirt is always stunning, and wows us year after year. It's also a great way to transition to Autumn, while we still hold onto all the white from summer's bliss.

4. Cashmere Sweater
The touch of real cashmere is unmatchable. Don't rush this purchase. Buy a piece that suits your style and personality. Avoid trends that seem like a good idea amongst the buzz of a store. A classic sweater, in a classic tone or colour will hug you with love time and time again.

5. Leather Jacket
When it comes to a leather jacket, you want to invest time and research to know which leather suits your lifestyle and needs. Not all leathers are made the same, and some require more care than others. Regardless, you want one that will last and age well. Leather stretches over time, but you can always make minor adjustments with your tailor. It's helpful to stick to simple seams as much as possible so that you can adjust as needed over time.

6. A bit of equestrian
I leave this one vague, because it means something different to each person. You don't have to regularly ride horses to add a little equestrian into your wardrobe. Whether its a belt, riding boots, a fitted blazer, or riding pants, channeling a little horse play item into your wardrobe will prove it to be a return champion each year. Giddy up.

7. A Jewel Tone Piece
Let's face it: plaid comes and goes out of style. And leopard print does too. But if you invest in a jewel tone piece or two, you can safely expect to bring it out every Autumn. I love me a jewel tone blouse, skirt or pant: emerald green; ruby red; sapphire blue.
